I get really pissed off when people tell me that all I need is more confidence in myself and THEN I'll find the right guy.

I am confident. I truly believe I am a beautiful, smart woman. But sometimes I wonder if my confidence is what pushes guys away...

I'm in the same boat, after so many first or second dates became last dates because guys keep telling me I'm intimidating. They all say they want intelligent independent women that are capable of carrying a conversation. None of them actually mean any of it. They want Barbie or June Cleaver.

I agree that there are men who profess to want a confident woman, but it's only because they don't want a woman to be too shy or self-conscious to get into bed with them. In a relationship, a lot of men want to be the one in control, and women who lack confidence are easier to manipulate. Either way, it's totally not worth it to feel insecure--or pretend to feel insecure--to get a guy. He has to love you for who you are.

I had a friend like that. She has now found the perfect guy for her. Don't worry, he's out there for you too.

And I always told her he would be.

About the men wanting to be in control thing - a lot of my biggest arguments with my boyfriend have been because I let him be in control and he wants me to put him in his place. So don't worry, there are definitely boys out there who are REALLY looking for the strong, smart, independent woman.
