I'm really annoyed with all the religious speech-making on election day. I'm an atheist, I don't believe in god, and I resent that the US is being represented that way!

I agree! It's simply outrageous that as far as we've come, we still can't seem to get away from the damn prayer service before government can function. I'm also insulted by the necessary swearing on a bible in the courtrooms. What ever happened to a separation of church and state?

Well, for the rest of the country that actually DOES believe in God, a country that was founded on Judeo-Christian beliefs, I really don't care that you're offended. It's tradition, and I think it's nice that some things still adhere to that.

Amen. Who says we can't be offended that you're trying to persecute those who actually are religious.

in response to the second comment down: not all traditions are good, especially when they exclude people.

Just as an fyi, you don't have to swear on the bible in a courtroom. All you have to do is ask "to affirm" and you will "affirm" that you will tell the truth as opposed to "swearing" to tell the truth.

Actually, didn't Obama mention non-believers in his speech? That doesn't sound so exclusive to me...

No one's making you stay...If you're so offended, just leave.
